Year 3/4 Inclusion Summer Sports Festival

The inaugural Inclusion Summer Sports festival for the BGN Family of Primary Schools took place on Monday 26th June 2017 at Blessed George Napier Catholic School.  The event was targeted at children who had not previously participated in other previous festivals and competitions this academic year. Over a hundred Year 3 and 4 children from Bishop Loveday, Cropredy, Hardwick and St. John’s took part.

Teams consisted of ten children and competed together in a circuit of individual and team activities.   Individual challenges included archery, howler throw, target throw, standing long jump and shuttle run.  Team activities included scatter ball rounders, diamond cricket, mini cricket and rounders and relay races.  The activities were expertly delivered by twenty-three Year 7 young student leaders from Blessed George Napier who offered encouragement and guidance throughout.

During the event, the Spirit of the Games value of Team work was a key focus area. A player from each team was selected and presented with a special certificate in recognition of their positive attitude and enthusiasm throughout the festival.  In addition, the top scoring boy and girl in each individual event was also presented with a certificate to highlight their achievement.

There is no doubt all the children enjoyed the various challenges of each activity and had a positive experience from the festival.

The year 3's really enjoyed the festival, it ran seamlessly and the year 7's young leaders were a real credit to BGN.  They were encouraging and gave fantastic explanations of the game.  Thank you for a lovely morning!”                              (PE Coordinator at St. John’s)

Great morning, young leaders were very helpful and encouraging.”                  (Teacher at Cropredy)
