Young people can play a fundamental role in shaping and developing the School Games at a local level. School Sport Organising Committees (Secondary) and Crews (Primary) are diverse groups of young people who join together to lead the planning and delivery of school sport clubs and Level 1 (intra) school competition programmes within their own community, ensuring that school sport and the School Games are accessible and meet the needs of all young people.
A well as raising the profile of the School Games within schools, appropriately selected School Sport Organising Crews and Committees (SSOCs) can provide a valuable supporting workforce for staff to help improve and expand school sport provision. An effective and well run SSOC can also help to develop important life and employability skills for the students involved.
More information and resources to help set up and run a SSOC are available at www.yourschoolgames.com, and in the guidance below.
North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership offers additional training and support for School Sport Organising Crews at our Primary Young Workforce Conferences.
